At altitudes of 60 miles, right at the Karman Line (which is the official boundary of space), there are winds that have speeds of up to 300 miles per hour. NASA will launch five sounding rockets as part of the Anomalous Transport Rocket EXperiment (ATREX) in order to study these high-altitude winds. The five sounding rockets will launch from NASA\’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia and will realease a chemical tracer in the high-altitude atmosphere.
