On September 21, 2011, an Ariane-5 launch vehicle lifted off from Kourou in French Guiana with two telecommunications satellites, Arabsat-5C and SES-2. The satellites were injected into transfer orbits with perigee altitudes of 249.6 km, and apogee altitudes of 35,957 km.
