Soyuz TMA-01M Assembly

The Soyuz TMA-01M spacecraft is being assembled and mated with the Soyuz-FG launch vehicle. Soyuz TMA-01M will carry a crew consisting of cosmonauts Alexander Kaleri, Oleg Skripochka, and astronaut Scott Kelly to the International Space Station.

Chang\’e-2 Launch

On October 1, 2010, the Chang\’e-2 spacecraft was launched aboard a Long March 3C launch vehicle from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Xichang, Sichuan. The Chinese lunar probe directly entered the Earth-Moon transfer orbit.

Soyuz TMA-18 Landing

Expedition 24 crew landed onboard the Soyuz TMA-18 spacecraft in Kazakhstan on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Commander Alexander Skvortsov and Flight Engineers Tracy Caldwell Dyson and Mikhail Kornienko spent six month aboard the International Space Station.

Space Shuttle Discovery rolled out from the Vehicle Assembly Building to Launch Pad 39A on September 21, 2010. Discovery will lift off on November 1, 2010, for its STS-133 mission. STS-133 will be the 35th station flight.

LRO Mission Results

The data recorded by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter’s Lunar Orbiter Altimeter (LOLA) has revealed that the moon was bombarded by two distinct populations of asteroids or comets in its youth. Also, the surface of the moon proves to be much more complex than previously thought.

Progress 39 Docking

Progress 39 resupply vehicle automatically docked to the aft port of the Zvezda service module of the International Space Station on Sunday, September 12, 2010, using the Kurs automated rendezvous system.
The cargo spacecraft brings to the station propellant, oxygen, water, spare parts, experiment hardware, and other supplies.
