The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) lifted off aboard an Atlas V launch vehicle on Thursday, February 11, 2010, from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station\’s Launch Complex 41. SDO is a NASA mission that will operate on a geosynchronous orbit, which will allow continuous observations of the Sun.

Space Shuttle Endeavour executes a rendezvous pitch maneuver, prior to docking with the International Space Station. During the maneuver, the space shuttle exposes its heat shield to the station. The images captured by the station\’s crew will help the mission team decide if the space shuttle is not safe for re-entry.
