On March 25, 2012, a Proton-M/Breeze-M launch vehicle lifted off from Baikonur. Proton-M placed in orbit a telecommunications satellite, Intelsat-22.
ESA\’s ATV-3, Edoardo Amaldi, docked to the aft port of the International Space Station on March 28, 2012. The cargo spacecraft began its journey on March 23. It was launched from Kourou, French Guiana, with more than seven tons of food, fuel and supplies. ATV-3 will spend six months at the International Space Station.

On March 27, 2012, NASA successfully launched five suborbital sounding rockets from its Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia as part of a study of the upper level jet stream. The study, called the Anomalous Transport Rocket Experiment (ATREX) mission will gather information needed to better understand the process responsible for the high-altitude jet stream.

ESA\’s third Automated Transfer Vehicle has been launched aboard an Ariane-5 ES launch vehicle from Kourou, French Guiana. ATV-3 has been named after the 20th century Italian physicist Eduardo Almandi. ATV-3 is the heaviest payload ever launched by an Ariane rocket.
